Our Story

The Beginning

Ted Dako, the founder of Dako Consulting, developed his passion for bartending and cocktails at a bar in the French Alps. As Ted moved back to his hometown Malmö in Sweden he started bartending at HIPP nightclub. Ted missed more emphasis and focus on cocktails, which is why he decided to move to one of the most influential cocktail cities in the world, Copenhagen. On his first night in Copenhagen he went to a rock concert, met a bar manager, and got a job. Bar 7 in the heart of Copenhagen became his new scene.

His passion for flavours, aromas, and spirits combined in cocktails sprouted. He created more and more spectacular cocktails that appeared on the menu for Bar 7 and in competitions for brands such as Bulldog, Jim Beam, and Merlet.

“He moved to one of the most influential cocktail cities in the world, Copenhagen.”

The Journey

In 2014 Ted was offered his first consultancy job. He designed the bar, created the menu, and trained the bartenders at a new cocktail bar in Copenhagen. Bar 25 opened in April 2015 and was awarded ‘Byens Bedste Cocktailbar’ by AOK in June 2015.

In June 2015 another adventure began for Ted. He was named the winner of the biggest and most prestigious cocktail competition: Diageo World Class, in Denmark. Ted traveled to South Africa to represent Denmark in the final. After presenting 48 innovative cocktails, Ted returned to Copenhagen full of experience, knowledge, and inspiration.

Where We Are Now

After winning the title as ‘Denmark’s Best Bartender’ the interest in his expertise grew. In October 2015 he opened Dako Consulting. Here, Ted Dako found the perfect way to express and pass on his experience and knowledge about bars, bartending, and cocktails. In the consulting firm’s short lifetime it has put 50 cocktails on the menu in 15 places in Scandinavia.

In March 2016 Ted Dako won the official Danish Championship in Classic Cocktail. He competed against 56 of the best bartenders in Denmark and won with a refreshing cocktail with Aperol, vodka, grape, lemon, and tea. As Denmark’s Best Bartender he is competing in the World Championship in Tokyo in October 2016.
